Abstract:At present, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(NMR) is the key method to identify the structure of natural products. In order to illustrate the importance of using similar model compounds during the structural identifi cation process, the following aspects were discussed in this paper. First of all, the NMR data could be separated into different parts and each part would be identifi ed by comparing with those of the model compounds. Secondly, the model compounds could be found in the same or similar plants. Finally, data collection and accumulation of model compounds usually was the right way to improve the skill of structural identifi cation.
